CDC
On The Front Lines

Over a 10-day period, we traveled with colleagues from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to South Africa, to the epicentre of the global HIV and TB epidemics in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

There, they captured images and stories of those at the forefront of CDC’s global response as part of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)—individuals whose efforts and innovations are helping to transform these epidemics. Together, they offer a snapshot into the work CDC and PEPFAR are leading around the world.

Images from this project have been exhibited around the United States, including a notable exhibition within the US Senate building in 2019.
